The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo has been made into a Swedish movie in 2008 and released around the world in 2009-2010. As of writing, it is the most watched Swedish film of all time.
The film was released to wide critical acclaimed and followed by two other movies in the trilogy - The Girl Who Played with Fire and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets' Nest.
The exciting news is that director David Fincher (‘Seven’ and ‘The Social Network’) has been tapped to direct the Hollywood version of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.
Casting has already began and actress Rooney Mara has been selected to play Lisbeth. Daniel Craig (James Bond) has joined the cast in this high profile movie adaptation. There were many big actors in the running to play Craig's role such as Johnny Depp and Brad Pitt.
Other actors in talks to join the film include Robin Wright Penn and Stellan Skarsgaard. Screenwriter Steven Zaillan has been discussing with the studio Sony Studios to write the screenplay adaptation.
